Levodropropizine
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of cough in adults & childn >2 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 10 mL (2 tsp) tid at least every 6 hr. Childn >2 yr 3 mg/kg daily divided into tid. Patient weighing 20-30 kg 5 mL (1 tsp) tid, 10-20 kg 3 mL tid. Max duration: 7 days.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take between meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ excessive mucus discharge; limited mucociliary function (Kartagener's syndrome, ciliary dyskinesia); bronchorrhea; severely limited liver function. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Stop treatment if symptoms persist after 7 days of treatment. Diabetics (contains sucrose). May affect ability to drive or use machines. Serious renal insufficiency. Childn <24 mth.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, heartburn, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea; exhaustion, faintness, somnolence, clouding of consciousness (sopor), numbness, dizziness, headache; palpitations; hypersensitivity reactions.
